No way could the Switch completely replace the 3DS. I've got a number of 3DS games that just wouldn't work well on a Switch. Kid Icarus: Uprising, for one. I have adored that game so much, spending probably over 100 hours in it. Now, I don't have a Switch, but if I did, it simply couldn't replace my 3DS. I wouldn't stop playing 3DS because I got a Switch.

I'm a little rusty at Mario Kart, but I might just have to join it!

A very brief demo of a very easy game. I always liked Kirby's Dreamland titles for Gameboy, but this just seemed like it was trying too hard. I could see it being fun with three friends on a big screen, but even then I think I would get bored quickly. Maybe the full game has more interesting level design with some better game mechanics at work, but I was not impressed with this one. Sorry, Kirby.

I should add that there are also numerous places where you might find a great deal. I've seen Switches with Zelda and Mario for $300 on Facebook. I saw one with numerous high-quality eShop games for $400. I've seen great deals on other sites, too, like Craiglist, Letgo, Offerup, and shopgoodwill (although this one might be the most disappointing).

And now you compete in MK8D tournaments welcome to the site! MK8D was my first proper Mariokart... I went from hating the idea of Mario Kart (as I typically play and enjoy sim racers) to loving it when I got my Switch! The game has a surprising amount of depth not to mention helluva fun And ahh the N64, such a great console!

My first Nintendo Console was the Nintendo 64 and my first game I ever played was Mario Kart 64. Was always fun playing my with family in battle mode and race mode. Been hooked on the mario kart games ever since.

I shared it on /r/NintendoSwitch Mischief, great community over there with a lot of MK8D players who'd love to join in. This should be a fun tourney!

Shouldn't be compared. While Switch is technically portable (to an extent) it's hardly a true portable. A portable for me is something I can slip into my pocket and take with me anywhere, plus I like how the 3DS flips open and has 2 screens. It's not always about graphics and processing power. Tired of people comparing the two. The Switch is a jack of all trades - master of none. 3DS excels at being handheld and portable. Handheld winner = 3DS.

I wanted to pull my hair out just watching the video. I have no patience for load times whatsoever. Moreover, while I know next to nothing about programming, it is my belief that long load times on cartridge-based consoles like the Switch are inexcusable.

Definitely remember playing 64 at various friend's houses (who had them) throughout my childhood. When I was in elementary school is right when the GameBoy color emerged on the horizon and basically everyone but me got one. (Parents, what're they good for?) Until my mom eventually bought me a white Gameboy Advance, which I remember playing non-stop, crumming up the D-Pad with melted chocolate, etc. So that would have been my first OWNED system.

Well if you're just out messing around in the city I don't ever remember an issue on the Wii U. Haven't had enough time on the Switch to say. But every time you go to a cut scene, or go back to the city, the loading screen comes up. Going to the world from a building takes about 1 minute to load. I am on the latest patch for the Switch and the game. If you have time to burn, here's a 3 minute video showing you how bad it is. You could've loaded a cut scene, went into a building and then back out in the time it will take you to watch this.

https://store.nintendo.com/ng3/browse/subcategory.jsp?categoryId=cat960084 Refurbished Switches with both gray or red/blue joy cons are in stock at Nintendo's online store for $275. Shipping appears to be $5 around the US. In the past Nintendo's refurbished units have been praised for being high quality and they carry the same warranty as a factory unit. If you're about to buy and would like to save $25 for a game, this is not a bad option.

My general thought on it is that consumers will be lucky if there is one or two more labo games after the initial release. It's a neat idea, I rather like labo, but Nintendo's story is littered with promising gadgets that have been tossed aside. This is probably one of those things that kids today will be discussing 20 years later with unopened cardboard sets going for a lot of money. Nintendo accessories that may have been neat, but were largely ignored by developers. This is just what I can think of off the top of my head: NES Zapper R.O.B. Power Pad Power Glove To a lesser extent, NES Four Score and NES Satellite SNES Mouse (okay plenty of games would work with it, but really it was for Mario Paint) Super Multitap Super Scope The Nintendo Power Cartridge Game Boy camera and printer Wii Speak

So, Kirby Star Allies is soon to appear on the Switch. I had a feeling the reviews wouldn't be the best...I was right. It has a 74 right now on Metacritic. Why is it rated so low? I can think of a few reasons. Lack of control of the allies, ease of the game, shortness of it (which Kirby has always had, but still), and lack of originality in the puzzles and level design. As I've watched numerous videos on it, I couldn't help but feel these criticisms are fair. But still! There's a lot to like. The multiplayer co-op looks like a blast, and there are several modes that make the main game all the sweeter. Mini-games, are, of course, present. A speedrun mode is present. There's a lot to keep players coming back. But there's just not a lot to the game itself. I probably wouldn't buy this game full price (if I had a disposable budget...and a Switch...). But nevertheless, I have no doubt I'd have a blast with whomever wanted to join in anytime I booted up the game. Which, in my case, would pretty much be limited to my brother. Thankfully, he LOVED Return to Dream Land. And with the variety of enemies to recruit, I think he'd have a blast, too.

This is true. I played the demo and liked it a ton but the reviews held me back from shelling out $80 on a new game. Especially considering that there are amazing 3rd party games for only $30 or so.

Hello and thank you for this wonderful competition. I would like to win a switch so that my brother and I can play mario kart together, both at home and on the go. We used to bond over the gamecube version, which we still occasionally play. This version would be great so we can play while waiting in the hospital every 3 months (diabetes, DW it's far from the worst thing). Good luck to everybody, and thank you for the opportunity

Just announced that alongside Crash Bandicoot, A new Mario Tennis Games, and all the other games coming to the switch that were just announced at this year's Nintendo Direct, long standing game series Super Smash Bros will be coming to the switch. No idea on the exact date yet, but hopefully sooner rather than later...

I need a switch to help take away the hours of boredom in hospital. I am also on dialysis and can't go anywhere during the exchanges, and I just had my second operation for the year and bed ridden at the moment. Please provide me entertainment I so desperately need. I am a very big fan of the Super Smash Bros series, and have had the wii and wii u version. I've gotten most of the Legend Of Zelda games, and have seen the amazing reviews for Breath of the Wild, and would love to be able to play it!

The story mode on that game is impeccable hundreds of hours of gameplay. Seriously though, if I get badges set up on the site I need to give you one for beating Tetris. That's an achievement if ever I've seen one! Now, as for my first Nintendo console it was the ol'trusty Gameboy pocket. It's funny, a lot of people these days it seems forgets that it even existed. They like to think it went from Gameboy to gameboy color, to gameboy advanced. But the pocket was essentially a slim version of the original gameboy without the green front lighting. I forget if it had a contrast dial on the side... but here it is, it looks a lot like the GB Color just without the color

I won't be able to make the 23rd and maybe the 30th since I will be out of the country. After that I'll try and be there every week.
