For the first time since the 1980's, Nintendo is re-releasing some of their arcade classics on the Switch. During the Sept. 13, 2017 Nintendo Direct, Nintendo announced they will be bringing back their classic games as individual purchases under the game publisher Hamster’s “Arcade Archives” banner. Nintendo, who has a history of leveraging their classic game library, has never before re-released their arcade games. So far announced are two games which had their stand alone cabinets, Mario Bros. and Punch-Out!, as well as several games from the VS. cabinet, VS. Super Mario Bros., VS. Balloon Fight, VS. Ice Climber, VS. Pinball, and VS. Clu Clu Land.

The first game hitting the eshop will be "Arcade Archives: Mario Bros." on September 27. Pricing has not been announced.
